The County’s close proximity to large urban areas and tourist destinations in central Florida, as well as the County’s diverse terrain, numerous lakes and year-round warm climate contribute to this popularity among bicyclists. Many tourists and bicycle clubs use Polk’s less traveled and scenic roads as a means of exercise and recreation, while other bicycle as a means of transportation to access work, school or transit services.
