Agenda, meeting packet released for April 10 TPO Board Meeting

The TPO Board will meet at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 10 at the Neil Combee Administration Building, located at 330 W. Church St. in Bartow, for its bi-monthly meeting.

The agenda for that meeting is currently as follows:

1. State Road 33 Project Development and Environmental Study (PD&E) from Old Combee Road to Tomkow Road

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is nearing completion of the PD&E study for the planned widening of State Road 33 in northeast Lakeland.  The Board will be asked to endorse the preferred improvement alternative as consistent with the TPO’s Adopted 2035 Mobility Vision Plan.  Action is requested. (Attachment)

2. Proposed Central Polk Parkway

B. Board Recommendations

FDOT staff will provide an update on the current design projects.  Then, staff will request the Board to consider the approval of some recommendations related to the Central Polk Parkway.  Action is requested. (Attachment)

3. Public Hearing on Draft Amendments to the FY 2013/14-2017/18            Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

Staff will request the Board to review and approve draft amendments to the FY 2013/14-2017/18 TIP.  Action is requested. (Attachment) 

4. Review/Approval of Draft Request for Proposals  (RFP) for Professional Planning Services as General Planning Consultants

Staff will request the Board to approve to approve a draft RFP for professional planning services in support of the TPO’s planning program.  Action is requested. (Attachment)

5. Presentation on Passenger Rail Options for Polk County

Staff will present the highlights from a recent TPO study that evaluated the extension of SunRail into Polk County.  This item is being presented for information only. (Attachment) 

6. Technical Report:  Premium Transit Design Features in the US 98 Corridor

Staff will review some of the highlights from the referenced report and ask the Board to consider the adoption of some related recommendations. Action is requested.  (Attachment)

7. Appoint Shared Corridor Trail Committee

The TPO Chairman will request the Board to approve the appointment of a “Shared Corridor Trail Committee” as a subcommittee of the full TPO Board.  The purpose of this ad hoc committee will be develop recommended policies and actions related to the construction of multi-use trails in utility corridors, e.g., electric power line corridors.  Action is requested. 

8. Presentation on Building a Healthier Polk Initiative

Representatives of the subject initiative will provide information on current efforts to build healthy communities and how local governments can support these efforts.  This item is being presented for information only. (Attachment)
