The Polk TPO is pleased to announce the completion of a $5.6 million intersection improvement and safety project on Cypress Gardens Blvd. (State Road 540) at US 17 and 1st Street South in Winter Haven. Managed by the Florida Department of Transportation, this project has been a priority for the Polk TPO since 2018.

The project includes the addition of new turn lanes, median improvements, paving, updated signals and enhanced lighting. These upgrades are designed to increase intersection capacity and improve the efficiency of traffic flow, significantly enhancing safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians alike.
