Mobility Week: Oct. 25 to Nov. 2

Mobility Week, celebrated from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2, is an annual statewide event organized by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to promote safe, sustainable and efficient transportation options. During this week, Florida communities come together to explore and embrace alternative modes of transportation like biking, walking, carpooling and public transit. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and create safer, more accessible streets for everyone.

FDOT Ride Roll Stroll

In the lead-up to Mobility Week, FDOT is hosting the Ride Roll Stroll Challenge, a month-long initiative to encourage residents to leave their cars at home and try other ways to get around. This includes cycling to work, walking to the store or taking a bus, every trip made without relying on a personal vehicle makes a difference. Using your car less often can lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduce stress and help you discover new aspects of your community. Plus, active transportation choices including biking or walking offer the added benefit of improving your physical health.

As part of the festivities, the Polk TPO will be engaging with residents at Bartow Friday Fest on Oct. 18 leading up to Mobility Week. This is an excellent opportunity for the community to connect with Polk TPO staff, learn more about mobility options and discuss future transportation plans for the region. By participating in events like these, residents can share their thoughts on how Polk County can continue to improve transportation networks and create a more vibrant, accessible future.

Mobility Week serves as a reminder that transportation choices matter, not just for us, but for future generations. By using public transit, carpooling, biking or walking more often, you contribute to cleaner air, safer roads and a more connected community.
