Vision Zero Polk

Vision Zero Polk is dedicated to eliminating all traffic fatalities and severe injuries in Polk County while ensuring safe, healthy and equitable mobility for everyone. The goal is to achieve zero traffic fatalities by the year 2040. This vision is rooted in the belief that every traffic-related death is preventable, and it requires a collective effort from all road users to make our roads safer.

Tips for Safe Driving

  1. Obey Speed Limits: Always adhere to posted speed limits, especially in residential areas and school zones.
  2. Stay Alert: Avoid distractions like mobile phones and focus on driving.
  3. Yield to Pedestrians: Always give the right-of-way to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections.
  4. Maintain a Safe Distance: Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you to allow ample time to react.
  5. Use Turn Signals: Communicate your intentions to others by using your turn signals.
  6. Check Your Blind Spots: Always check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or turning.
  7. Drive Sober: Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
