Speak Up for Safer Streets

Speak Up for Safer Streets Community Workshops

Does your daily commute take you down Kathleen Road in Lakeland or along 42nd Street or Wahneta Road in Winter Haven on your way to work, school or home? If these are part of your daily routine, you already know where safety is a concern.

These three roads are ranked among the highest injury roadways in Polk County, with pedestrians and bicyclists facing some of the greatest risks. That’s why the Polk Transportation Planning Organization is inviting you to a Speak Up for Safer Streets workshop in your community.

At these workshops, Polk TPO transportation planners will sit down with you and your community, listen to your experiences and talk through the challenges you face on these roads every day. Together, you’ll look at possible safety solutions, ones that reflect the real needs of the people who live, work and travel is these areas.

As part of Vision Zero Polk, we’re working toward a future with zero fatalities and severe injuries. Real change starts with the people who use these roads every day and that includes you.

Join us. Share your experiences and shape safer streets for your family and your community.
