Ridge Scenic Highway

Overview

The Ridge Scenic Highway, designated a Florida Scenic Highway in February 2005, extends approximately 38 miles along the Lake Wales Ridge. It runs from its intersection with US 27 south of Frostproof to its intersection with US 17/92 in Haines City, passing through Hillcrest Heights, Babson Park, Highland Park, Lake Wales, Lake of the Hills, Dundee and Lake Hamilton.

This scenic corridor showcases outstanding unique resources including cultural, historic, archaeological, recreational, natural and scenic elements along Florida’s highway system.

Explore Historic Communities

Travelers can explore both historic communities and rural agricultural areas along this scenic corridor. Key communities and historic sites served by SR 17 include:

  • Downtown Haines City
  • Chalet Suzanne
  • Mountain Lake Estates
  • North Avenue (Lake Wales)
  • Lake Wales Residential and Commercial Corridors

Scenic Views and Attractions

SR 17 offers scenic vistas along the Lake Wales Ridge, providing access to:

  • Lakes and natural areas
  • Citrus agricultural fields
  • Historical landmarks and attractions
