Polk Transportation and Planning Organization

TPO Federal Certification Review Public Comment Period
The Polk Transportation Planning Organization is being evaluated by the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration as part of the Lakeland – Winter Haven Transportation Management Area Certification Review.

By Federal Law, this review is required every four years, and will include a site visit on September 12, 2023. A public comment and review period for the Polk TPO 2023 Federal Certification Review commenced July 28 and will continue through October 13, 2023.  Public comments are important to the certification review, as they allow residents to provide direct input on the transportation planning process for their area.

Submit comments in the following ways:
• Attend the site visit - Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Polk County Administration Building, Room 413 at 330 W. Church St., Bartow.  
• Mail comments to Julia Davis, Polk TPO, P.O. Box 9005, Drawer TS-05, Bartow, FL 33831-9005
• Call (863) 534-6529.
• Comment on the Polk TPO Facebook page.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Fatalities

Pedestrian and bicycle safety is an area of focus for the Polk TPO. There were 262 fatalities resulting from pedestrian and bicycle crashes between 2011 – 2021.
